Frequently Asked Questions

Well, I think it is time to make a frequently asked questions post! :)

First off, I want to make it clear that this is completely a service abroad. I am not going to be paid while I am over there. In fact, I am not aloud to get paid monetarily at all while there, because I do not have a work visa. I will be working and teaching English to the boys and girls there 5 days a week, and then have weekends and a small amount of vacation time to explore at on my own time and expense. :) I leave mid-august, I won't have official flight details until probably the end of July, but I predict leaving August 15th, and then returning just before Christmas. Which I predict to be about December 20th!

I don't know what age group I will be teaching yet, I could be teaching kindergarten age, to I believe 12 year-olds. I will be staying with a host family, while I am there. Did you know they eat their pancakes drowned in oil and not syrup...interesting huh?! haha They usually live in small apartment sized homes. Oh! and if anyone has any ideas as to what gifts I should bring them, I'd be happy for suggestions!!!

Let's see, what else have I been asked a lot? Oh!!!! I know many of y'all thought I was headed to Texas for the summer, originally I was! BUT, because of my grandma I decided to stay in Utah. So, I am currently in Cedar City, working everyday! However, I will be back in Texas at the end of July. So, Texas friends, I have about 2-3 weeks to party before leaving to Ukraine!

Okay, I'll add more as I remember, but I believe that is it for now....

Dear Friend,
I am writing to tell you about an exciting opportunity and adventure I am about to embark on.  I am going to Kiev (Kyiv), Ukraine in the fall semester of 2011, to teach children English through the International Language Program (ILP).The learning and ability to speak English will greatly benefit these  children, as well as their families.  Many of these children come from low social economic families; ILP teachers must pay their own expenses and volunteer their time.  The total cost for me to go is a $2,500 program fee.  As a result, I am asking for your help.  A simple $25 would help tremendously.  If you are able to aid me, please send a donation made to ILP on my behalf.
Because ILP is an IRS qualified 501(c)(3) charitable organization, any funds you donate are tax-deductible.  If you have any questions about the program, please do not hesitate to call me at (281) 386–7043, or email at eb.allsop@hotmail.com , or ILP at (801) 374-8854.  You can also visit the ILP website and www.ilp.org, to learn more about the program and journey I am going on.

I would also encourage you to visit my blog at http://missbrittstravels.blogspot.com/.  I explain why I chose to go on this adventure, and I will update it often with new stories while I am there!
I greatly appreciate any amount that you can give to this cause.  Thank you for your support!!!
                                                                         Most Sincerely,
                                                                                                           Brittany Allsop
